Fried of the day
Because of the humid weather and hot room temperature, any left over food including rice is easily get spoiled, to prevent this I always store them in the refrigerator overnight and reheat to be eaten on the next day. Or make another recipe using these left-overs.
Do you have left-over rice from dinner last night? If you do and don’t want to eat it plain, you can cook it again by adding different ingredients to enhance the flavor.
This is my own version of Fried Rice or Sinangag in Filipino.
- 3-4 cups left-over cooked rice
- minced garlic
- 1 cup mixed veggies like corn, greenpeas, carrot (can be bought in the supermarket in packs)
- cooking oil
- salt
- 3 pcs. hotdogs chopped
- 1 egg
***************************************************************************************
- Saute garlic in oil.
- Then add and stir fry the mixed veggies to keep it crispy.
- Add the chopped hotdogs continue cooking until the hotdogs are done
- Add the rice and stir occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking in the pan.
- When the rice is already cooked, season with salt
- Add the egg and continue cooking for a few minutes or until the egg is done.
- Serve hot.
- Best partner with coffee or hot choco.
This Fried Rice is already a complete meal by itself because of all the ingredients added.
Tip: you can also use fresh steamed rice if you don’t have any left-over, just let it cool to vaporize some of the water.
Variation: you can use ham, bacon or any cold-cuts you have in the fridge, or left-over meat dish too like adobo, fried chicken or barbecue, the choice is endless, just be creative.

Hi Josie!I think all Filipinos love Sinangag esp. for breakfast.Pero iba talaga ang lasa ng leftover rice kaysa bagong luto ,di ba?

Wow this recipe seems to be amazing. I am unsure how many salt (there has to be salt right?) i put in there?! the grandparents of mine come to my apartment and i want to cook this recipe. Thanks a lot for giving this, just what i looked for.
yes Mina, ung freshly steamed rice is very soft and might stick to the pan when cooking.
