Bistek Filipino [Beef Steak in Soy sauce marinade]

This is an authentic Filipino meat dish, Bistek is a Filipino-coined name for Beef steak.

2 lbs. top sirloin cut
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 med-size onion, cut in rings
1 tbsp. calamansi juice
1/2 tsp pepper powder
1/2 cup water

Slice meat in 1/2 inch-thick. Marinade in soy sauce, pepper and calamansi juice overnight or for several hours.
Drain and fry on both side until lightly brown in a medium-high heat. Drain excess fat, transfer to a separate sauce pan and add water and the remaining marinade. Cover tightly and simmer for about 25 minutes or until the meat is tender. On the same frying pan where the meat is cooked. Fry the onion rings.
Serve hot and garnish with the cooked onion rings on top.

Serves 4-6
