Bulanglang


The Tagalog version of Dinengdeng, this dish differ from the Ilocano dish, because the vegetables are sauteed in oil unlike in the Ilocano version where the veggies are steamed.

Ingredients:
3 tbsp. cooking oil
1/4 pork chopped or liempo (pork belly) thinly sliced about 2 inches long

10 pcs. med. size shrimps cut lengthwise in half across back after peeling and deveining

1 c rice water

1 tbsp bagoong na isda or alamang
1 tbsp. fish sauce (patis)

3 cloves garlic minced

1 med. size onion sliced

same vegetable ingredients used in dinendeng

Procedure:
Saute garlic, onions and tomatoes, add pork and continue sauteing until fats starts to come out. Use low heat in order to cook pork well, add shrimps and veggies (same fr. Dinengdeng recipe). Add rice water, adjust liquid as needed. Cook the veggies in medium heat, don't overcook. Place in serving bowl and serve hot.
